Hello, my name is Tom Hosie

I love photography

A little bit about me...

I've been interested in photography since my first 'serious' SLR camera, a Canon AE-1, bought for me by my dad, David, aka 'Dave the Rave' (he'll never read this). This was quite quickly replaced by an A-1 which was well loved. Sadly, many of the 35mm images from these days were lost, including some interesting surf images captured in the unique light of the north Cornish coast.

After a break of a few years due to having too many hobbies (I also play the guitar and try to surf, amongst other tinkery pastimes!), I decided that it was time to re-visit my love of photos and immerse myself in the digital age. Wanting to pursue my teen dream of owning a Nikon, many of my favourite images have been snatched from the ether using the fantastic Nikon D50 coupled with the standard 18-55 lens and a superzoom 70-300.

I now use a Nikon D80 and would dearly like to increase my quiver of lenses to include a 600mm F4 (for surf stuff) and a decent f2.8. But those are going to remain on the wish list for some years to come...

2008 was the first for many things in my photographic life. 24 Heures du Mans, Silverstone Le Mans Series, my first wedding shoot. My favourite subjects are motorsports, surf and beach photography and portrait shots, and these have been readily available! It's been a hectic but fun year and hopefully I will get images from each of these events up here for you to comment on in due course. In the meantime, please enjoy the site and let me know if you have anything to say!
